Iceland Trip Day 9: Grundarfjordur

We got up early this morning to go explore the city before our excursion later in the day.  The city only has a population of 800 so there wasn’t much to do in the city.  In fact the city was so small that our boat couldn’t dock, so we had to take a tender to get there.  We decided to go back to the ship earlier than we had planned.

We played some cards and ate lunch on the boat before our excursion.  For the excursion we got on a bus and drove around.  We went to a beach made entirely of black rocks.  They even had a sign about some large rocks of different weight amounts that people can try to lift.

Another stop was a small church with a cemetery and a few paths over to the beach.  We decided to take the path with the least amount of people walking on it.  We ended up with a nice view of the ocean as you can see from the picture at the top of this post.

We also stopped at a giant troll statue made out of stones.  It had a path behind it where you could see a bunch of birds sitting on the rocks by a small cave.  There was also another good view of the ocean here.

After all of these stops we were exhausted and ready to go back to the boat.
